John Horsewell (Essex, 1952) is an English artist.
From a very young age he became aware of the fact that he grew up in an art-loving family. In a completely natural way, he picked up artistry (with parents and a grandfather who were professionally involved). Whilst at school he experimented with all forms of media, soon realizing that oils were most suited to his style of working, best allowing him to convey the light and shadow he desired. This gives him the most expression with colors and depth.
Upon leaving school Horsewell entered the world of interior design and continued to paint in his spare time. He exhibited his work a lot; first locally and then- as his reputation gained weight- across Manchester, Birmingham and London. In 1978 he decided to pursue painting as a full time profession, and has experienced great success in doing so.
Horsewell is an authentic Englishman who also feels at home in Southern Europe, where he has seen the most beautiful beaches and sunsets. This is where he gets his inspiration from. His paintings are executed by using both brushes and palette knives, giving them their distinctive texture. The flair in which he paints communicates the pleasure of the location he has reveled in, inviting the viewer to share in the experience with him.
