John van Drumpt (Amersfoort, 1962) is a Dutch artist. His digital collages are based on photography. But where the photo is often the end result for a photographer that is only the beginning with John van Drumpt.
His work is made up of fragments of paintings that have been photographed and subsequently combined into new compositions with the aid of the computer. In this way, images are created that often keep the middle between figurative and abstract and between painting and photography, with striking and special use of color.
Sometimes narrative, other times only an atmosphere or an impression. Subdued large-sized images that question what you think you see at first sight and gradually reveal that which you had not yet seen.
Since 1995 he has been active as an (independent) graphic designer. In addition to the work on assignment, he always continued to make autonomous work. Since his first solo exhibition in 2013, the demand for his work has increased sharply and is sold both within and abroad.
