ans Jochem Bakker (1948) lives and works in the Netherlands. He is an autodidact from an old artist family. Inspired by artists such as Salvador Dalí, Miró and Picasso, he has taken over parts of their southern temperament in his theme, such as a special interest in bull fighting, birds, horses and women.
In his earlier period he mainly followed in the footsteps of Salvador Dali, working on themes full of mystical and nightmare-like images. This resulted in very detailed, extremely cleverly painted visions. His working method became expressionist afterwards. The artist had freed himself from his self-imposed straitjacket, and from the start the new work spoke of the unbridled joy of that liberation.
Spontaneous, honest, straight from passionate artist’s heart. A rounded story does not even exist. Everything is moving and that’s also his most important reason to continue painting. This completes the painting process and it becomes an unity of form, color and movement.
