Jasper is an extraordinary work of art by Karin Vermeer. The color of Jade is reminiscent of a beautiful lucky gemstone. The fibrous structure of such gemstones can also be found in this work. This is due to the use of various types of structure pastes in combination with photo techniques and acrylic on linen. Karin: ‘My work is a mix of different photos / images and paint that I combine on the computer and canvas to create a new performance. My favorite subject is the woman’s face. I use photos of people and old walls, grunge posters and all kinds of other interesting subjects to create a new image. When the digital part is ready, the image is printed and I start painting over it. I create the artwork with many layers of texture, gels and paint over it. In this way I try to make the digital image tangible again. My work is not so much about explanation and concept, it is a game and everything is about the image. I generally start out blank, but looking at images that interest me and mixing them slowly creates a new image. All works are made on request in any desired size. Most of these works are a mix of print, paint, grain gel, heavy gel and matte or glossy varnish. The works are made by hand, individually slightly different and in an edition of a maximum of 25 pieces, numbered and signed. ‘
